WHAT IS HPLA (High Performance PLA)?
High-Performance PLA is a Polylactic Acid. PLA is a thermoplastic polymer that is derived from renewable resources like cornstarch or sugar cane. Plastics that are derived from biomass (e.g. PLA) are known as “bioplastics.” PLA is a fully biodegradable thermoplastic polymer consisting of renewable raw materials.

WHAT IS PA6 (Nylon)?
Nylon, one of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics, is an extremely versatile engineering plastic. An excellent combination of mechanical performance (toughness, low coefficient of friction, and good abrasion resistance) and cost make Nylon an ideal replacement for a wide variety of materials from metal to rubber.

WHAT IS PC (PolyCarbonate)?
Polycarbonate (PC) is a high strength material intended for tough environments and engineering applications. It has extremely high heat deflection, and impact resistance. Polycarbonate also has a high glass transition temperature of 150° Celsius. This means it will maintain its structural integrity up to that temperature, making it suitable for use in high-temperature applications.

WHAT IS POM (Polyoxymethylene)?
Monocure 3D White POM 1.75mm 3D Printer filament (Acetal or Polyoxymethylene) is an engineering plastic with the desirable characteristics of high stiffness and a low coefficient of friction. That low co-efficient of friction is where Monocure 3D White POM 1.75mm 3D Printer filaments can have a major impact on what can be produced with fused filament 3D printers: gears, bearings, and moving parts.

WHAT IS PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol)?
PVA is an abbreviation for polyvinyl alcohol, a water-soluble material. It is often used with multi-extruder FDM 3D printers as a support material. The biggest advantage of PVA filament is its ability to dissolve in water. This means there are no ugly marks left on the print after the support material is removed.
